Mr. Puddles the Snowman - Free Crochet Pattern

I know that Christmas is still quite a while away, but last year it completely snuck up on me, and took me by surprise! So I've decided to prepare early this year... What better way to kick off this Christmas then, than with some super cute patterns! This little cutie would make a perfect decoration, or an extra stocking filler for someone special. Enjoy!

To make Mr Puddles, you will need: DK Yarn in Cream; Black; Orange; Red, and Brown. (You will only need small amounts of each for this project, so it makes a good use of scraps!) Crochet Hook 3.5mm Crochet hook 3mm Safety eyes (I used 12mm) Small amount of fiber fill/toy stuffing Yarn needle Stitch markers (optional) Terms Used: (US terminology)

St(s) - Stitch(es)

Sc - Single Crochet Sl St - Slip Stitch Ch(s) - Chain(s) *( )* - Repeat from * to * until the end of the row, unless stated otherwise.

Sc2tog - Single crochet 2 together (decrease)

To make the Head:

Cream DK yarn, 3.5mm hook:

Make 6 Sc in a magic ring. - (6) Row 1: 2Sc in each St around - (12)

Row 2: *Sc, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (18)

Row 3: *Sc 2, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (24)

Row 4: *Sc 3, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (30)

Row 5-10: Sc around Row 11: *Sc 3, Sc2tog* repeat * around (24) Row 12: *Sc 2, Sc2tog* repeat * around (18) Place the safety eyes, making sure they are secure and start stuffing. NOTE: you may find it easier at this stage to make the nose, and sew it on now, before finishing the head, and closing it up. Row 13: *Sc, Sc2tog* repeat * around (12)

Row 14: Sc2tog around (6) Finish stuffing through the small gap, if needs be, then sew up the hole, leaving a tail to attach to the body.

To make the Body:

Cream DK Yarn, 3.5mm hook

Make 6 Sc in a magic ring. - (6) Row 1: 2Sc in each St around - (12)

Row 2: *Sc, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (18)

Row 3: *Sc 2, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (24)

Row 4: *Sc 3, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (30)

Row 5: *Sc 4, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (36)

Row 6-13: Sc around

Row 14: *Sc 4, Sc2tog* repeat * around (30)

Row 15: *Sc 3, Sc2tog* repeat * around (24)

Row 16: *Sc 2, Sc2tog* repeat * around (18)

Start stuffing Row 17: *sc, Sc2tog* repeat * around (12)

Row 18: Sc2tog around (6)

Finish stuffing through the small gap, if needs be, then sew up the hole, hiding tail inside body. To make the Hat:

Black DK Yarn, 3.5mm hook

Make 6 Sc in a magic ring. - (6)

Row 1: 2Sc in each St around - (12)

Row 2: *Sc, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (18) Row 3: ch1, sc around in back loop only, Sl St into 1st st. (18) Row 4-7: Sc around Row 8: ch1, sc around in front loop only, Sl St into 1st st (18)

Row 9: *Sc 2, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (24)

Row 10: *Sc 3, 2Sc in next st* repeat * around (30)

Sl St to finish, and bind off ends, sewing them into the hat so as not to be seen. To make the Arms:

Brown DK Yarn, 3.5mm Hook

Ch9 Sl St in the 2nd ch from hook, Ch2, Sl St into the 2nd ch, Ch2, Sl St into the 2nd ch, (these are your 'fingers'), then Sl St into each of the remaining 7 sts across. Leave a tail to sew on to body. To make the Nose:

Orange DK Yarn, 3mm Hook

Make 6 Sc in a magic ring. - (6)

Row 1: Sc in each st around (6)

Row 2: *Sc 2, Sc2 in next st* repeat again (8)

Row 3: Sc around Bind off, leaving tail to sew on to Head. To make the Scarf:

Red DK Yarn, 3.5mm Hook Ch 41

Starting in the 2nd ch from hook, sc 39, Sc4 in the last st, turn your work clockwise, (43)

sc 39 (the other side of the sts you've just worked), sc4 in the last st. Sl st into same st, and bind off, sewing in tail end. (87) Using the picture as a guide, you can now sew all of your parts together, making sure that all tail ends are neatly hidden away. You may also want to not sew on the scarf, or hat, so that he can be styled in different ways. This is a free pattern designed by Nash's Crafts.
